Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of that year.

The win also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
